Hey!
I really had a lot of fun putting together last weeks newsletter. Safe to say that my was inbox flooded with your questions on how I write the slice, so it was really cool getting the chance to engage with you all!
If you want to ask me any questions or maybe you just want to say hi, drop me a DM over on
Twitter (I don't bite, promise🤞).
I do a lot walking on a daily basis, mostly because my college is in a (kinda) metropolitan area, and finding decent parking is a pain in the ass for me on most days.
The other day I parked my car a little further than I usually do, but on the walk to class I was completely lost and immersed in my own thoughts, when I hit the realization of just how normalized we've made a few things because of the pandemic.
One of them being the face mask.
It made me think back to one of The Hunger Games movies, where in a dystopian future, the aristocrats and socialites normalise this ridiculous type of attire, and it got me thinking to how we have officially normalised masks, to the point where is not just a preventive measure to decrease the rate of infection, but also a fashion accessory like a watch or simple hat.
Nowadays, I just instinctively grab a mask before I even leave the house and I think nothing of it. It pisses me off that its now become that, but I'm looking forward to the day that I can just walk into a coffee shop without having to worry about having a mask on.
One thing that has made me more appreciative of wearing face masks are our eyes. I didn't really realize just how beautiful peoples eyes are until I started focusing on them more when having conversations with people, mostly because their face was covered by a mask.
Shower thoughts....am I right!
