Welcome to issue #048
So this week I watched a interview of Chamath Palihapitiya
, and now this dude has officially become my new favourite human, right up there with Derek Sivers
, Pieter Levels
from Adventure Time.
The interview was about how money is an instrument of change which should be used to make the world a better place. This was a really moving conversation for me and I have probably watched it 3 times over in the last week, but there was a quote me made that really stood out to me."Be a good copier. Be around high functioning and high quality people and just copy the shit out of them. Observe the crappy shit, and just don’t do that. It’s not fucking complicated."
I'm not saying to go and outright copy something 100% to the tee. That would a pretty dick move, but in theory it makes a lot of sense. I have no problem in borrowing a few ideas from something and expanding upon that because at the end of the day, coming up with something is that truly 100% original is actually fucking hard.
A lot of inspiration with The Slice have come from newsletters that I have admired and you will find elements of different newsletters throughout mine. *link to interview below*
So, be a good copier.
Now for this week issue ✌

The philosopher Kwame Appiah writes that “in life, the challenge is not so much to figure out how best to play the game; the challenge is to figure out what game you’re playing.”
When I try to figure out what game I’m playing, I see that for the last 25 years I have been playing a game of strategy applied to people, a game where over and over I try to answer the question “what’s going on here, with this human?” Read MorePeak Non-Creepy Dating Pool.
Okay this a different article than what I usually recommend, but me being the data nerd that I am, I had to share. I've come to realise that as you get older, the percentage of people your age who are married increases and the percentage who have never married decreases. This must mean your dating pool gets smaller with time, right? Read moreThe joys of being an absolute beginner – for life
The phrase ‘adult beginner’ can sound patronising. It implies you are learning something you should have mastered as a child. But learning is not just for the young

| |Taming the Mammoth: Why You Should Stop Caring What Other People Think
Literally one of my favorite blog posts of all time. I'm a actually a very introverted person and shy person, so this post hits a bit close to home.
It looks at primitive part of our brain that is obsessed with fitting in and being liked and terrified of being excluded, embarrassed, or talked badly about behind our backs. Check it outChamath Palihapitiya Interview
Here is the interview that I mentioned earlier. It's pretty long, but well worth it. The interview took place way back in 2017, but this is the type of evergreen content that will be as relevant today as it was back then. Check it out
